Our Editor
Heather Ivatt
Hello there! My name is Heather and I am the Lead Editor and founder of EditAble Online.
My two most memorable roles to date are Production Editor and Change Manager, both of which inspired me to design EditAble’s approach that combines these two disciplines into a unique editing experience.
After being diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in 2024, and personally experiencing the barriers others with disabilities or long-term chronic conditions can face, I wanted to carve another path so that I can have a meaningful career doing what I love, and helping others out along the way (whether as clients or, one day, as fellow freelancers).
As well as editing, I am an avid reader of fantasy fiction, with a keen interest in how magic systems are built and function. I was raised on the two Davids (Eddings and Gemmell), and now fangirl over Kristen Britain, Victoria Aveyard, and Lucy Hounsom. Of course, Brandon Sanderson’s magic systems intrigue me, and I can spend far too many hours wandering the Ancient History bookshelves at Waterstones!
A note on my specialisms:
My professional background covers all subject areas of non-fiction and academic content, while my academic background covers pretty much all genres of fiction, but I do have a soft spot for fantasy. My Masters degree focused on the creation and maintenance of logical magic systems that are watertight (so, don’t have any holes that might cause them to fall down) and I am absolutely fascinated by the sheer variety of magic systems authors can up with.
I’d love to help you with your work: I have the skills, knowledge and bespoke templates to help you make your novel or non-fiction/academic content be the best it can be, no matter your genre or subject matter. So, please do get in touch!
